⇐ Laryngeal action: At the level of the D2 spine, strike three times upon the spinal prominence of C7-D1 with the fingers half-bent and the hand withdrawing. Using the anterior-superior part of the heel of the palm, the large bone strikes the vertebral spine as illustrated here. This 'striking' action at C7-D1 yields glottal spasms and is effective against suffocation by mechanical obstruction: in this case, it is to be coupled with the well-known Heimlich Maneuver, where the hands are crossed over the umbilicus of the subject and sharp pressure in-and-upwards is exerted upon the abdomen, provoking expulsion of the object. It is also the location of dysphagic & phonation problems (treat these with spondylotherapy).
 

For Posterior Pain: The illustration to the right demonstrates that posterior reflex pain is manifest as a real device of enslavement, an amplifier of dysmelia, a dysmorphia or simply a localized dystonia. With the subject sidelying, search for a painful contracture by digital palpation of the lateral face of the spinal processes (note the arm position for proper testing). This particular sidelying technique is the better of the three techniques we use for lesion diagnosis.

There's a short overview on therapeutic reflexes; we refer you to Volumes I & II of the Reflex Therapy Series: "Stature, The Key" and "Body Reflex Therapy and Techniques". The anatomical pathways and neurological rationale are explained there. We'll explain the cranial techniques and clearly describe different maneuvers, presenting their results and their impact. Lastly, we'll discuss auriculotherapy.

There are two kinds of points: sympathetic and parasympathetic (fully explained in the book). Given the histologic composition of the skin, the subcutaneous tissue and the musculo-fibro-aponeurotic formations of the neurocranium, a crystal the size of a salt-grain may be found there (macroscopically). This crystal is detected by the pressure of the educated fingernail as it passes over the skin...No electrical detection can specify the autonomic polarity of the point in the occurrence here of the crystal. However, physical therapeutic techniques offer this possibility: it is a thermo-algesic disassociation exposed as follows:

• By sympathetic and parasympathetic crystals.

• Treatment consists of reestablishing the physiological unity between these two differing sensations. We summarize these imperatives:
• Detecting the point electrically or simply using the VAS.
• Determining the autonomic polarity: 

1.  Sympathetic: hyperesthesic-hypothermalgic.
2. Parasympathetic: hyperthermalgic-hypoesthesic.
3. Making the appropriate correction

☛IMPORTANT (FOR THESE MOVEMENTS): Upon subject's inhaling, both thumbs separate (one from the other)...How EZ is that? The hand positions vary as a function of the clinical picture, placed as described below. The movement is gentle but precise, easy to perform, and gives remarkable results in the treatment of spinal problems.                        

1. The Temporal-Parietal Movement: The practitioner's hand is placed just behind the subject's vertex; the other hand is placed at the auricular level as shown at right.
2. Supraorbital Movement: for cephalic or high nucchal blows.
3. Lateral-frontal Movement: for cervical blows.
4. There are two more very effective movements with this maneuver: for dorsal blows and for lumbosacral blows simply move both thumbs to the proper positions we show you in the manual.
